What type of pesticide is used?

We partner with pest control manufacturers and entomologists to select the highest-quality pesticides tested for safety and performance. Our pesticides are comparable to commercial-grade formulas used by local drive-by pest management companies. Every shipment comes with the original EPA-approved label, complete safety information, and application instructions.

What is the coverage area for each mixed bag of Self Control?

Each shipment of pesticide concentrate and mixing bag covers properties up to about 5,000 sq ft. If your property is larger, please contact our customer service team for more information.

Can I spray on plants?

Yes, it's perfectly safe to spray on bushes, trees, and grass. However, we do not suggest spraying the product on or around anything you intend to eat. Please see the product label for further usage information.

Can I use Self Control around children and pets?

Yes, Self Control is safe around children and pets. Our pest control formulas are fully registered and used in hospitals, schools, and other locations where children and pets are often present. However, as with any pesticide application, certain safety measures must be followed. Pets and children should not come into contact with treated areas until the pesticide has fully dried, about 30 minutes. A complete set of safety measures and instructions are included with each shipment.

Can I spray indoors?

For most customers, we recommend an outdoor barrier sprayed around the home. This is often extremely effective at getting rid of pests indoors. In cases where it's necessary to spray indoors, the pesticide can be applied using a light spray. Additional precautions should be taken, such as moving any human or pet food and waiting for the product to dry before any contact. Before spraying indoors, please read the included label for complete safety information and instructions.

How does the 90-Day Guarantee work?

If you're unsatisfied at any point during the 90 days after your first application, simply contact our support team. We'll gladly send you a new shipment, work out a customized plan for your bug problem with specialty treatments, or provide you with a full refund. It’s your call.

How do I cancel my Self Control subscription?

To cancel, pause, or modify your subscription, log into your account or contact our support team. It’s that easy.

Can I postpone the delivery of my next Self Control shipment?

To postpone a delivery, simply click on “view order” in your confirmation email. Then, scroll to the bottom of the page and click "visit the customer portal" to set a later date for your delivery.

Why is Self Control so much less expensive than other pest treatment companies?

As our name implies, we put the control in your hands. That means there are no salespeople or so-called technicians to profit from excessive sales commissions. Many of the largest pest management firms pay their salesforce as much as 50% of the contract value. After paying their salespeople, they pay for technicians’ salaries, trucks, and equipment. With our do-it-yourself approach, there are no middlemen, so you enjoy all the savings — up to 74% of what you would pay for "drive-by" pest management companies.

What should I wear when applying Self Control?

To safely apply Self Control, wear gloves, a long sleeve shirt, long pants, and closed-toe shoes. Please read and follow the provided instructions on the pesticide label and the instructions and safety precautions provided with each shipment.

Does Self Control really kill scorpions?

You bet it does. If after several applications you still detect scorpions, add the full pesticide concentrate to your mixing bag on your next application but only half the amount of water (1/2 gallon). Then, apply the mixture around your home using the same technique as previously instructed. That should do the trick.
